In Colombia

March 10, 2008

I arrived in Bogota Colombia yesterday, the largest city with 8 million people. I have been going through orientation for the school I am doing with Youth with a Mission. It´s going to be a jam packed 4 months. Im really looking forward to the practical part of getting on the streets to minister to the street kids.

It was bitter sweet saying goodbye to everyone. I have made some great friends in the past 5 months, plus the time I was able to spend with my family (especially my niece and nephew) was the best of times. I was only able to hold my composure by not thinking about how I am going to miss everyone, maybe not the healthiest way but it was what I had to do.

I just found out that I have to prepare breakfast and lunch one day a week for all the students. If they only knew! Well, they will know soon and I am sure I will be relieved of my cooking duties.

Does preparing cereal count? If it does, you’re in the clear.

Glad you made it! I hear black beans and a coke in the bottle (with straw) works for any meal just fine.

Hi Skipper-Dee-Dipper-Dee-Doo-Doo. I don’t like how your room is empty now. We’ll miss you at ping-pong tonight too. (I’ll even miss getting beaten by you).

Hey, you ought to cook up a batch of detox saltwater solution for the school! Squirt-fest 2008!

Kids miss you and I even catch Abe running up to your room sometimes. Blessings, Spike

My freind told me about your blog. So glad to read what you’re doing in South America. I’m doing ministry to Hispanic kids in the states. Love hearing about what you’re doing.

Hey Skip! I hope that you’ve been doing good. I’m glad that you traveled safely, and just know that we will all be praying for you! I just want to thank you again for doing an interview with me, i had to turn in my paper this week and you were a really big help.
I was wondering if you could tell me what city you were in or really close to in Bolivia; whenever you get the chance.
